Christmas Song

Okay so have you heard this Christmas song called "Christmas Shoes"??? Really? Who on earth thought this was a good Christmas song to write? Every year I hear this song I end up sobbing in my car. Here is just a section of the lyrics...

Sir I wanna buy these shoes for my Momma please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry Sir?Daddy says there's not much time
You see, she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes will make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful
If Momma meets Jesus, tonight.

Aren't Christmas songs supposed to be uplifting and cheerful? "Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer", "Santa Baby", "I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" (my new fav!), etc. I just don't get it. I'm telling you right now, if you are tuned in to Sunny 99.1 and this song comes on this Holiday season then you should just pull over and park and get out the tissues.

Momma and Aiden

Really???

Okay so I have promised some people I would finally blog about this so here it is...

Have you ever had your shopping cart stolen while you were at a store? Has that ever happened to you? Well it has happened to me TWICE! The first time was at Target and I had a cart full of stuff...clothes, toys, etc. Now mind you, Richard tells me all the time that I need to stop walking away from my cart and just leaving it in the middle of the aisle. Did I listen? No. So I walk away from my cart and I come back and all of my stuff was in a nice, neat pile on the floor and my cart was gone!!! WHO DOES THAT???? The person literally took my stuff out of my cart, put it on the floor of target, took my cart and started shopping! I thought for sure Richard was playing a joke on me but no my friends, this really happened.

The second time was even worse...I was 8 months pregnant and shopping in Wal-Mart. I (didn't listen to Richard again) walked away from my cart and I turned around with a hand full of stuff and there were two girls taking my stuff out and putting it on a random shelf getting ready to take my cart! Well this time I had had enough and I was 8 months prego, fat feet, fat tummy, miserable and I walked right up to the girls and I said EXCUSE ME!!! And they turned around, faces turned bright red and I said "YOU JUST STOLE MY CART RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE!" They were so embarassed and even more mortified to find that they took it from a pregnant lady. I sat and watched them put all of my stuff back in my cart for me and then I walked away.

Seriously though? People really do this? Are people that lazy that they can't walk to the front and get their own cart? Am I giving people too much credit? This blows my mind...ha! Has this ever happened to any of you???

Life is good!

Well we are all moved in! We aren't completely unpacked but it is a work in progress:) The house is great and Richard is pumped about being able to mow the lawn for the first time this weekend. I am going to take pictures of this! Maybe we will get Aiden a baby lawn mower so he can be like daddy.
Speaking of Aiden, he is going to crawl any day now. He is on all fours and rocking back and forth and then he just lays down...ha! He is growing so fast and I am scared to death at how much he will get in to once he is crawling. He can't sit still now so I am sure it will be crazy. His newest trick is that he arches his back and grunts when he isn't getting his way and doens't want to be held or go to sleep. He also yells "DA DA DA DA!" all the time:) I love this boy!

Daniel just had his other karate test for his green belt and he did great. He was so proud of himself and we were proud too! We had a great halloween with the boys and I need to post pictures for you to see. Daniel was Indiana Jones and Aiden was a penguin.

The holidays are coming and we are so excited since we will have Daniel on Christmas day this year and it will also be Aiden's first round of holidays. We will take lots of pictures and post...I promise! We hope everyone is doing well and I will try to write more soon! Love ya!

Never again...

Okay I will never pack and load a Uhaul to move again. From now on I will ALWAYS hire movers, I don't care how much is costs. Thankfully we had help from my brother, Richard's dad and Andy so we are thankful for that.
Here is the deal...we have too much junk! And maybe this happens when you have children but seriously! You never know how much junk you have until you are faced with having to pack it all and somehow make it all fit into a 17' truck (we should have gotten the 24' truck).
Our lease ended yesterday so we were forced to get out of the apartment yet we can't move in to the house until this Saturday so we have the packed Uhaul parked in my dad's driveway and we are living out of boxes for a week. We are thankful that we had somewhere to go.
As my brother was helping us he asked Richard if we had ever thought of throwing anything away and Richard told him that we did...2 phone books. wow! Talk about pack rats! Do we really need that entire box of super heroes that Daniel doesn't touch? What about those posters Richard had up in his dorm room in college? Do we need those? Richard, do you really need that hideous purple (yes purple) sweater you wore years ago? And who on earth let you buy that?
We did have a few laughs so that was good:)

Our next step is to close on the house on Wednesday and move in on Saturday...keep your fingers crossed for us. I will write more once we are in and settled. Life is good:)

"I will not use my Taekwondo when I am sad or mad"

This past weekend Daniel had his Taekwondo test to receive his yellow belt. He stood up there and recited all of the rules and even showed his new moves. He did so well and we were so proud of him. Everything was "Yes ma'am, no ma'am"...it was a new Daniel I had never seen before:) Here are some pictures from the test...doesn't he look so small in his uniform? He is such a ham!

Yes we are voting!

Yes, Richard is right, everyone should watch this video that he attached below but please know that we are both voting...after seeing Richard's headline I panicked that everyone would think we weren't but we are:)

I love you honey:) ha!

That's it, I'm not voting!!!

I found this floating around and I know everyone needs at least one more person telling them how important it is to vote (or not).. So there.

Life is good

Okay so I apologize for JUST NOW updating this. Hopefully noone was wondering whether we made it through Ike or not. We did fine, lost power for a few days but other than that we were good. We consider ourselves very lucky. Aiden slept through the whole thing:)

We are convinced Aiden will be a professional wrestler since he weighs almost 20 pounds! He is our little meatball:) He likes to sit up and talk and trys to put everything in his mouth. He is full of smiles:) Daniel has officially decided that he will train to be the super hero IceMan and he just needs to figure out how he will make the ice.

Richard and I are house hunting and put down our first offer today! We officially felt like real grown-ups and walked out of there thinking "Um, did you understand all that stuff about ESCROW?" ha! We will keep you posted.

Hope everyone is doing well. Love you!!!

Ike

Okay seriously? The PANIC that has taken over my office about this hurricane is overwhelming! And for me this means panicking even moreso than I do on a regular basis with my normal day to day anxiety. Should we evacuate? Should we stay? How long will we be without electricity? Why is my company STILL keeping us at work today? Will it be like Rita and totally shift in another direction? Will it be like Katrina?

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

We will be hunkering down at Papa's house Friday night and possibly Saturday night depending on electricity and the weather. We plan to bring lots of reading material and lots of diapers for Aiden...ha! I will blog about the outcome on Monday...everyone be safe!!!

Big Decisions...

This past weekend Daniel did what I think may have been the cutest thing ever...he stumbled out of his room Sunday morning after a long nights sleep and he staggers out of his room holding on to his blankie and he has this puzzled look on his face...here is the conversation:
Ci Ci (this is what he calls me): Daniel, what's wrong?
Daniel: Ci Ci (he is almost in tears) I just can't decide what I want to be when I grow up:(
Ci Ci: Oh Daniel honey, you don't have to decide that today, you have plenty of time! You can be anything you want to be!
Daniel: I just can't decide whether I want to be a Jedi or a super hero.
Ci Ci: Oh Daniel, that is a hard choice but don't worry, you will pick one soon enough.

3 hours later...Daniel decided he would be a super hero and his name will be IceMan and he will make Ice everyday:)

This is why I love children...this was his BIGGEST concern. They are so innocent and so beautiful:) Meanwhile Aiden was trying to pull his sock off and that to him was the biggest challenge in his life.
I love my boys!

He did it!!!

Aiden is now on to bigger and better things...he has rolled over and now he won't stop! Last weekend I was washing the bottles (an every night thing) and Richard yelled for me to hurry into the other room and there was Aiden trying to get his chunky leg over his hips. I got there just in time to see him roll over for the first time...yay!!! Now I can't change his diaper without him trying to roll over...he is so proud of his new trick. On Monday I watched him in his classroom with the other babies and they were all laying around together on the mat and Aiden had to show off and show what he had learned over the weekend:) That's our big boy and we are so proud! Stay tuned...

Don't Freak Out Just Yet...

I know some of you reading this won't really care, but a little birdy told me that 2 American Classics are returning to the movie theaters for a short time to bask in all their Old Family Ways. I'm talking about The Godfather and The Godfather Part II. My friends, these are works of art and not a flaw with them (that's in part 3). Hopefully they will be coming to my neck of the woods. so excited

Random Thoughts

1. Why is it that you can't go to Target and just get one thing? Anne you will appreciate this post. No matter when you go or what you are going for, you always end up buying more than you planned. I will tell you why, because Target is the best! They have everything you need and it has become my favorite store. I could max out a credit card there.

2. I just tried these new cheetos--Jalapeno cheetos...I know they sound gross but they really were good so try them.

3. We have a "cafe" here at work and the man that runs it is very intimidating. For those of you who watched Seinfeld he would remind you of the soup nazi. No matter when you go in or what you are ordering he looks pissed off that you are even in his cafe. It is even worse at lunch time, if there is a long line he gets very flustered and overwhelmed and gets mad that you are ordering a sandwich in the first place. He has been this way every single day UNTIL I had a breakthrough...I must have caught him on a good day and he was nice and talkative. Since then we have become friends and he knows my regular order:)

4. Aiden overcame his first ear infection...poor little guy was miserable over the weekend though. He lasted 4 days in daycare before getting sick. We took him to his 4 month old checkup the other day and he weighs (hold on to your seat) 17 pounds!!! As my friend Amanda put it "Good God, what are you feeding that kid???" I promise he just drinks milk but he is so strong! We now call him our meatball:)

That's all I have for today, just some random thoughts.

I am Aiden's Plaything....

hello everybody, this is dad...

this is weird, i've never done this before so it'll take some getting used to--please bear with me...thanks a bunch!

As you've heard, this whole site pertains to Aiden and all that encompasses that great bundle of joy (and sometimes poo). Maybe, from time to time, Mom and Dad will diversify and talk about other things we like, y'know--food (aiden) fun (aiden) TV (aiden) film (aiden) and such. oh well, I better get back to watching the critter--he's gonna read me a book...

My latest obsession

Good Afternoon!
Okay so as you already know, Aiden is in daycare now and he is doing well! He has been all smiles each morning I have dropped him off so that is great. One of the "selling points" for me with this specific daycare is that they offer "parent watch" which is where you can log in and see inside your childs classroom on the internet. This is great and all but I have become obsessed! I have found myself yelling at my computer saying "Why are you holding him like that?" "Why are you giving up on feeding him his bottle just because he looked away?" "Why are you putting him in his swing AGAIN?" "Why is that teacher wearing purple crocks again?" ha ha ha! It is fair to say that I have lost it. I finally made myselg log off because I was going crazy. It will be okay Courtney, take a deep breath!

My next subject, Richard and I have found our new favorite hamburger place...Five Guys Burgers and Fries, it is out of this world! There is one in Richmond/Rosenberg (yes we drove all the way out there to go) and it is wonderful! Thank you Mrs. Joiner for introducing us to this place.

First Day

Well my friends...it has finally happened...the day I have dreaded for months...Aiden's first day at daycare! Let me start by describing what it's like to have to wake up a 4 month old at 6:45, get all his stuff together, and carry the following down a flight of stairs by yourself:
1. Breast pump
2. My cooler
3. Aiden's cooler
4. My purse
5. Aiden's diaper bag
6. A big box of diapers
7. Aiden in his (what feels like) 20 lb carseat carrier.

It was a task to say the least. I made it two hours before calling to "check in" so I think that is pretty good. The first call went something like this (every mom's nightmare):
Daycare director: "Learning Stages this is Mrs. Lety"
Me: "Good morning Mrs. Lety, this is Courtney Rosenzweig".
Daycare director: "Hi Courtney, how is Aiden?"

UMMMM...

Me: "I don't know, that is why I am calling you!!!! (Hyperventilating at my desk).
Daycare director: "Oh yeah, ha ha! Let me check...

It turned out he was fine, she just hadn't been in his classroom yet BUT I did almost leave work and drive over there when I thought she couldn't locate my son!
Since then I have only called one other time and he was doing fine:) I know he is well taken care of but even that doesn't make this process any easier. I cried all the way to work and then some but I am better now. I have realized how being a mom is the most rewarding, exciting, scariest thing ever. I wouldn't change it for anything in the world but it truly is gut wrenching when you see your little one stare at you with that worried look on his face when you leave his classroom. How will I ever survive the first day of kindergarten? ha!!!

Big Brother Daniel

Here is our other love-big brother Daniel! Daniel is also such a gift and we cherish every moment we spend with him. Daniel is obsessed with one thing and one thing only right now...STAR WARS. It consumes his little brain. He likes to listen to the soundtrack and tell you what is happening in the movie at each moment. Daniel's other hobbies include chasing his dad, wrestling in the living room, fighting with his light saber and most of all taking care of Aiden. He loves his little brother more than anything and it shows. He is very overprotective and can't wait to teach Aiden the following things:

1. How to fight with a light saber

2. How to run

3. How to eat chicken nuggets

4. How to wash his hair without getting soap in his eyes

5. How to dance

Daniel is such a bright light and we love him so much:)

Our Aiden

We would like to introduce our little angel Aiden Nathaniel Rosenzweig...isn't he the cutest? Here he is just showing his Papa that he is ready to go to an Astros game anytime:) Aiden was born April 9, 2008 and he truly is a gift from God.
The latest update with Aiden is that he found his feet and is going to roll over any day now. He also thinks his dad is the funniest man ever. Keep watching as there will be many more updates to come!

Rookie!

Okay so my coworker told me to create this blog so that she would have something to read at work. Here it is Amanda:) Now, how on earth does this work?
Be patient everyone, this is a work in progress.
