Christmas Song

Okay so have you heard this Christmas song called "Christmas Shoes"??? Really? Who on earth thought this was a good Christmas song to write? Every year I hear this song I end up sobbing in my car. Here is just a section of the lyrics...

Sir I wanna buy these shoes for my Momma please
It's Christmas Eve and these shoes are just her size
Could you hurry Sir?Daddy says there's not much time
You see, she's been sick for quite a while
And I know these shoes will make her smile
And I want her to look beautiful
If Momma meets Jesus, tonight.

Aren't Christmas songs supposed to be uplifting and cheerful? "Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer", "Santa Baby", "I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" (my new fav!), etc. I just don't get it. I'm telling you right now, if you are tuned in to Sunny 99.1 and this song comes on this Holiday season then you should just pull over and park and get out the tissues.

I'm with you on this one. There is also a song by Rascal Flatts about a young girl who gets cancer and then loses her hair right before the prom and to make her feel better her date shaves his head too and it makes me tear up every time. It's called "Sara Beth" in case you're ever in the mood for depression.
